Tectonic Robot Wars UK   A site dedicated to the UK Robot Wars TV program. It is very up to date and includes a huge number of links to competitors web sites along with basic information and photos about each robot, descriptions of each program and who won.

Electronics Info  Confused by terms such as Voltage, Current and Resistance? Then this is the place for you - simple explanations of electronic terms.

Reconn's World  A site devoted to the Talk to Free Range Education's hobbies of robotics and electronics. Follow the "Robo" link for step by step instructions on building your own "Smallbot" robot.

A Technical Guide to Building Fighting Robots.  Very detailed information about robot components. The motor section includes detailed instructions and photo's on converting starter motors for robot use.

Robot 101  This site includes a comprehensive 'Hints and Tips' section along with information about the construction of Robot 101.

The Steel Avenger  A competitor in the 1999 series of Robot Wars. Pages include a useful overview of the inner workings of a robot aimed at beginners. Click on the 'Operation' link to find it. More detailed information on individual components can be found by following the 'Technical' link.

Team Guv'nor  Using lawn mowers and petrol engines to make a robot. The 'Technical Page and Build Guide' link takes you to a detailed description of how it was done.

Slippery Strana  A lightweight robot powered by two Bosch power drills!

RC Bandit  A detailed analysis of Southampton University's Robot Wars entry.

Seattle Robotics Society  A guide to building a simple robot including pages on "Really Basic Electronics" and "What's a Servo?".

Robot Science and Technology  An American site that includes instructions on how to build a Simple Mobile Robot using Lego Technic.

TCRG  The Twin Cities Robotics Group site includes several articles aimed at beginners including a useful overview called "Hints for Building a Combat Robot"

HBRobotics Club Builders Book  An online book written by various amateur roboteers.

Battery FAQ  Probably more than you want to know about batteries, part of J.M. Clarke (Electrical Engineers) Limited's web site.

Robot Books  Another American site, their "Hobby Robots" page includes robot building book reviews. Run a search at BookBrain for any titles you are interested in to produce a list of UK online suppliers complete with full pricing information.

4QD  manufacture speed controllers for battery operated electric motors. Their site includes a hugh amount of information aimed at roboteers (Robot builders start here) including sections on types of drive and control systems, current requirements, performance under load etc. They also sell reconditioned controllers.

Technology Education Index  Buy complete robot kits (including solar powered kits) as well as components.

Ellis Components  A supplier recommended by the maker of Robot 101 as a supplier of Bosch motors.

Bull-Electrical.com   have been recommended as a parts supplier on many of the sites I visited. Their site includes surplus electric motors for inventors and hobbyists, remote control kits and free electronic circuit downloads.

Display Electronics  Stockists of surplus electronics who have a page devoted to robot components.

Whitchurch Models  sell remote control cars, radio control equipment and "hundreds of spare servos, Leads and connectors, Electronic Speed Controllers and Chargers, Ni cad and Metal Hydride batteries."

Farnell  offer an extensive range of electronic, electrical and industrial products.
